Land of Winter
The first eighty-five seconds of December, visualized
From the crystalline light of winter to the layered warmth of summer, the piece captures the arc of light through the year in Ireland across twelve interconnected movements, each reflecting a month of the year.
Alarm Will Sound will presented the New York Premiere of Donnacha Dennehy’s electrifying Land of Winter at the Irish Arts Center in NYC, celebrating the release of our premiere recording of the work.
As a preview of this concert and album, I created an animated visualization of its breathtaking opening moments.
🏆Update: this recording and the piece itself are nominated for two 2026 Grammy Awards!
Best Small Ensemble/Chamber Music Performance (Alarm Will Sound/Alan Pierson)
Best Contemporary Classical Music Composition (Donnacha Dennehey).
